The traffic in Ras Jedir, the border point between Tunisia and Libya is almost absent on Sunday morning. Some vehicles, occasionally cross because of the clashes opposing the rebels with the Kadhafi troops in Zaouiah about 130 km from Ras Jedir and 40 from the Libyan capital, Tripoli. These confrontations which continued, Sunday morning, at a slower pace helped the rebels to take control of the region. The situation in the borders is rather "calm" and "normal" according to a Tunisian high-level military sources who said to Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency that the control by the rebels of Zaouiah supposes two scenarios : They move towards the capital Tripoli or rather they control the Ras Jedir border point. This will lead to the paralysis of the Kadhafi regime, all the more that this crossing point is vital for Libya. The strategic importance of this crossing on the economic and political level is likely to boost the intensity of the confrontations between the two sides if the rebels intend to progress, added the same source. "It is imperative to show vigilance. Military reinforcement are to be ensured when needed", asserts the military source.
