The Spanish government decorated State of Kuwait's former Ambassador in Madrid Adel Al-Ayyar with the Order

The Spanish government decorated State of Kuwait's former Ambassador in Madrid Adel Al-Ayyar with the Order of Civil Merit, the highest order granted by Spanish King Juan Carlos.
Al-Ayyar was decorated with the Order of Civil Merit during a ceremony held by the Spanish Embassy on Sunday, attended by Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim.

Speaking to reporters on sidelines of the ceremony, Al-Ghanim said granting Al-Ayyar the Order of Civil Merit was in recognition of his role in further promoting bilateral relations.
"This is moment of pride for all of us as Kuwaitis, and reflected the dedication of our diplomats abroad," he said.

Al-Ayyar expressed content for being honored with the Order. He dedicated the Order of Civil Merit to all those who worked with him during his tenure, which began in September 2006 and ended last September.

The Spanish government announced last October that it was granted Ambassador Al-Ayyar the Order of Civil Merit in appreciation of his role to deepening strategic and historic relations between the two countries.

The Order of Civil Merit, established by King Alfonso XIII of Spain in 1926, recognizes extraordinary service by Spanish and foreign citizens for the benefit of Spain
