Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and his Somali counterpart Sheikh Sharif Ahmed , Monday evening, held talks in Khartoum focused on the general situation in Somalia and the region and means of joint cooperation. The Somali president Sheikh Sharif Ahmed said in a statement to Sudanese News Agency SUNA following the talks that the main objective of his visit is to deliberate on the drought that has caused the famine in Somalia and to discuss in this framework means of support that Sudan could provide to the Somali people. He said that President al Bashir has stressed readiness to provide great support where already preparations were made to move supports to Somalia, adding that the meeting also discussed in general the situation in the region. President Sheikh Sharif praised the continued support of Sudan to Somalia. He noted that the Arab and African stance towards the support on the famine conditions in Somalia is good but lack coordination, adding that he had discussed with President Al Bashir means of coordination of the efforts in this regard. On the role can be played by the Sudan towards the unity of the Somali factions, the Somali president said that Sudan is an acceptable party to all Somalis and always supportive to the Somali issues. The Somali president arrived in Khartoum earlier in the day on a two-day visit
