Damascus - Arab Today
The Syrian TV on Friday aired footages of the Shayrat Air Base on Friday which was targeted by a U.S. missile attack before daybreak.
The footages showed the air base from a distance, at the time of the U.S. attack and after.
At the time of the strike, fire seemed spiraling out of the air base, with the light of fire slicing through the last minutes of dark.
In the aftermath footage, the air base seemed to have sustained damage at one of the runways.
Both footages were shot from a distance.
Earlier in the day, the United States launched missile attacks on the Shayrat Air Base in the central province of Homs, in retaliation for the alleged chemical attack on a rebel-held town in the northwestern province of Idlib.
Nearly 60 Tomahawk missiles struck the air base, and nearly destroying it completely, killing six Syrian soldiers and destroying nine Syrian warplanes.
The U.S. administration said the attack on the air base comes in retaliation for the strikes by the Syrian air force on the town of Khan Sheikhoun.
Activists accused the Syrian army of firing toxic gas on the town, killing 70 people, while the Syrian army said the strike targeted an arm depot containing toxic gas, blaming the rebels for storing such materials.
