King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand Kingdom approved the appointment of Thailand's army top commander cum Chairman of the Military Council General Prayuth Chan-ocha as Prime Minister.

After his approval by HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Prayuth becomes the 29th Prime Minister in the history of Thailand.

The National Legislative Assembly approved last Thursday the appointment of General Prayuth who was the sole candidate as prime minister. Prayuth retains his military position as top army commander as well as Thailand's prime minister.

The Thai military assumed power after toppling the civilian cabinet after months of political unrest in Thailand.
