Three militants were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, according to the Times of India. The gun-battle broke out after the security personnel launched a cordon and search operation to track down the militants. On being traced, the militants opened fire at the security personnel, and an encounter ensued. Official sources said. The operation was still in progress when reports last came in.
