Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday received a cable from U.S. President Donald Trump, who greeted him upon the 74th Lebanon's Independence Day.
"The United States values the longstanding cultural, familial, political and economic relationship between our people and our countries," Trump said in the cable.
"Lebanon has been a strong ally to the U.S. in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism," he added.
Trump also reiterated his country's support for Lebanon's stability, independence, and sovereignty.
Separately, Berri met at Ain-el-Tineh with Head of National Dialogue Party, Fouad Makhzoumi, and a delegation from the Worldwide Alumni Association of the American University of Beirut.
Berri also received a cable from Iraqi former Vice President Ayad Allawi
