British businesses and organisations were urged Thursday to review their own security procedures after the UK embassy announced it had suspended its services in the Persian Gulf state. The Foreign Office in London said that the embassy in Kuwait had been closed after what it described as a terrorist threat against it. The Foreign Office was \'aware of an increased terrorist threat\' against the embassy and had suspended the services as a precaution,” it said. It did not comment on the nature of the threat or when services are expected to resume, coming two weeks before heir to the British throne, Prince Charles, is due to visit the country to mark the 50th anniversary of independence. In a statement, the British embassy said there is a general threat from terrorism in Kuwait and that terrorists continue with threatening to carry out attacks in the Persian Gulf region. \'These include references to attacks on Western including European interests... residential compounds, military, oil, transport and aviation interests,\' it added. The embassy is also advising British nationals to exercise caution before sailing in Kuwaiti waters, following what it termed \'maritime restrictions\' issued by Kuwait last month.
