The UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran, Ahmed Shaheed, acknowledged that his report on human rights conditions in Iran has been superficial and merely based allegations by some personalities. Addressing a group of reporters at the UN headquarters in New York, Shaheed noted that his report was released without his prior visit to Iran. Asked by IRNA correspondent in New York whether his report was published without realizing Iran’s realities and under pressure of some western countries, the UN investigator said that because he did not visit Iran, he did not have a realistic analysis about human rights situation in Iran. Shaheed tried to portray that because Iranian officials did not issue him visa, he couldn’t base his report on facts and his observations in Iran. However, analysts believe that Shaheed\'s report was prepared in rush manner and without paying attention to details.
