US decision on Jerusalem will only serve extremists

Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs of Jordan, has discussed with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the repercussions of the US decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, has reported.

During a telephone conversation, Safadi briefed his US counterpart on the outcome of the Arab foreign ministers' meeting in Cairo, which discussed means to address the repercussions of the US decision on Jerusalem, and called on the United States to rescind the decision.

He said that the increase in tension and frustration will only serve extremists and their agenda, highlighting the need to achieve the two-state solution in line with the Arab Peace Initiative that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
