Caretaker Prime Minister Béji Caid Essebsi met, on Tuesday in the U.S. Senate in Washington, with Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations Daniel Inouye who expressed his full and unconditional support to Tunisia and its democratic process and his admiration for the Tunisian Revolution. The American senator placed emphasis on the strong ties binding the two countries, expressing hope to visit Tunisia early next year. He praised the efforts made by Mr. Béji Caid Essebsi since his appointment as head of the Interim Government. For his part, the Prime Minister made a presentation on the democratic transition process in Tunisia, the interim government's achievements and the challenges it faced during the last period. He called on the senator to back up Tunisia in this delicate period. Mr. Daniel Inouye is a member of the Democratic Party from Hawaii. He is one of the leading members of the U.S. Senate because of his long experience and the importance of the committee he chairs and which is responsible for monitoring budgets and credits appropriated to the State.
