A car bomb killed 10 and wounded 23 others including a tribal elder in eastern Afghanistan, an official said on Wednesday. "The tribal elder Malik Dehqan encourages people to join the uprising forces against ISIS militants and Taliban in the area," spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar province Attaullah Khogyani said, according to the (dpa).
The bomb was detonated outside the elder's house in Nazyan district of the eastern province of Nangarhar late Tuesday. The government is equipping hundreds of the province's residents with weapons and basic training to oppose the extremist groups locally.
The injured included two of Dehqan's brothers and three children, according to Khogyani. No group has claimed responsibility.
