A prominent Taliban group leader was killed in the eastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan, local authorities said Friday. Mawlavi Abdul Wakil was killed during an ambush by Afghan police forces Thursday night in Barakat village, Khaama Press reported. Wakil was one of the senior Taliban leaders who replaced Hafiz Sardar after he was killed by coalition security forces in Rashidan area. Taliban members have yet to comment regarding the death of Mawlavi Abdul Wakil.
