A Yemeni diplomatic source confirmed on Sunday that a rocket was fired at the US embassy in Sanaa.
The attack left a number of US guards wounded, the source told Fox news.
No fatalities were reported thanks to the concrete barriers located outside the the heavily fortified embassy, the source said.
On a Twitter account, Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it is in response to US drone raid that left two of its operatives dead in northern Yemen.
