Algiers - Arab Today
Algerian national football team's coach, Christian Gourcuff, said Tuesday that his goal in the final stage of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2015) is to "won all the matches," even if the level of such tournaments is quite different from the qualifiers.
"I will not stick to the goal set in the contract I signed with the Algerian Football Association (FAF), as we will compete in the next CAN with the firm determination to win all the games," the coach told a news conference at the media centre of Mohamed-Boudiaf Sports Complex in Algiers.
The national team has distinguished itself from the outset of the African qualifiers, and is the first team to book a spot in the African tournament beside Cape Verde.
It is the only African team to have won four matches in four qualifiers.
"It is true that the results we have achieved so far made of us the favourite for snatching the CAN title, but we have to admit that the final stage will be a different kettle of fish, as it will bring together high-level teams, like Ivory Coast and Ghana, which have players in major European clubs," Gourcuff pointed out.
