Yoann Gourcuff has reiterated his decision to reject a new contract with Lyon, claiming he does not feel the Ligue 1 club has faith in him. The midfielder joined Lyon from Bordeaux for €22 in 2010, but has since failed to hold down a regular starting place. This has also affected his international prospects with the 27-year-old having also slipped out of contention for next year's 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™. Gourcuff's contract runs out in 2015 and there will be no extension. He told L'Equipe: "I will let my lawyer handle it. An extension must be a sign of confidence from both parties, with everyone being satisfied. "That fact that I've been injured regularly or often on the bench... I don't think it's relevant. I have not felt huge confidence from the club at times." On whether he expected more support, Gourcuff added: "Sometimes I find myself on the bench, like recently against Toulouse and Bastia. These are small signs. It does not hurt me but I take note." He knows his World Cup prospects are remote, saying: "I do not think of it at all, the priority is to play and to be on the field. For me, it is very far away." Source: FIFA.com
