Martin Kelly made his first appearance for England on Saturday night against Norway in the Ullevaal Stadium. Kelly, who has six England U21 caps to his name, took to the field as a late substitute as England ran-out 1-0 winners in the friendly. Four of his Liverpool teammates also featured in what was Roy Hodgson\'s first game as manager of the national side. Three were there from the start and the Liverpool connection was evident when Stewart Downing broke down the field early on to beat his man before curling a cross into Andy Carroll, who nodded just wide of Rune Jarstein\'s post. Carroll was involved for Ashley Young\'s fine opener on nine minutes. The forward towered above his marker and played the ball in to his strike partner Young. Then Steven Gerrard made a distracting burst through the middle that allowed Young to shimmy, draw the ball away from a defender and smash home for 1-0. Skipper Gerrard was withdrawn on 46 minutes to make way for Gareth Barry. However, 26 minutes later Barry was substituted for Liverpool\'s Jordan Henderson. Stewart Downing made way for Adam Johnson on 84 minutes. Other Reds were in action over the weekend. Daniel Agger had a difficult afternoon with Denmark as they went down 3-1 against Brazil on Saturday afternoon. Later that day, Dirk Kuyt was a 64th minute substitute for Holland as they lost 2-1 to Bulgaria. A late Ilian Micanski goal settled the game. On Friday night Luis Suarez was in fine form scoring the opener as his side drew 1-1 with Russia at the Lokomotiv Stadium.
