The Amakhosi player believes that it is still possible for them to win the South African top flight competition.Tefu Mashamaite insists Kaizer Chiefs can still upset the odds and snatch the Premier Soccer League (PSL) title from under their rivals’ noses. The Amakhosi beat Platinum Stars 2-1 over the Easter weekend and are now six points behind log leaders and arch-rivals Orlando Pirates – and they have a game in hand. Mashamaite, who made his first appearance of 2012 against Stars, is adamant they can make up the gap and win their first League title since 2005.“It was our objective to win the title this season and we still believe that we have a chance,” he told the club’s official website.“If you look at the number of games and the points we have collected, you will see that we are not far from the leading pack and we believe that we still have a chance to win the championship this season.”Chiefs were not at their best against Stars, but Mashamaite insists the result is more important than the performance, especially at this stage of the season.“There are games where we are going to play well and win, but there will be times where we are not going to play well and [against Stars] the points were more important. We continue to take it one game at a time.”
