As many as 317 Egyptians returned home from Libya via Salloum crossing over the past 24 hours, said Marsa Matrouh Security chief Mokhtar el Senbary.
Out of all the returnees, 290 Egyptians came back legally, while 27 returned illegally, he noted in statements on Tuesday.
Travel procedures for 1,012 people, including 338 Egyptians and 674 Libyans, have been finalized, Senbary added.
Libya has been witnessing a rising insurgency by different rebel groups and militias and an increasing use of weapons since the overthrow of slain Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
