Beirut - KUNA
Total number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon has reached 511,000, according to a UN report released here on Saturday. Weekly report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) points out that 437,406,000 Syrian refugees have been registered by the UNHCR and 73,814 are awaiting to be included in the records. More than 313,000 Syrian refugees are currently in the north of Lebanon, the eastern Bekaa region and the rest are in provinces of Beirut, Mount Lebanon and South Lebanon. Up to 4,000 refugees entered Lebanon last week. Many of the refugees are being furnished with relief, health and educational aid. Deteriorating security conditions in Tripoli and villages in the north-eastern border regions have hindered dispatch of humanitarian supplies to the refugees in these areas. Lebanese President Michel Suleiman has called on the international community to offer continuous aid to Lebanon for hosting hundreds of thousands of refugees from Syria.
