Customers have praised the permanent vehicle registration cards that Abu Dhabi Police, ADP, began to issue, once and for all, without an expiry date, from the beginning of December 2017.

Brigadier Ibrahim Naser Al Shamsi, Director of Vehicle Licensing Department at ADP, said that the permanent vehicle registration card would contribute to efficient processing times, and obtaining the same high standards of service for customers, who will not have to keep visiting service centres.

He added that the administration will stop issuing new vehicle ownership cards with the exception of specific cases such as transfers of ownership, mortgage and vehicles for tourism transport. This will also help reduce environmental waste resulting from the destruction of ownership cards.

Al Shamsi went on to say that vehicles owners can verify the expiry period by using the ADP smart application. They need to select the option "Display Vehicle Ownership" to view all the information related to the vehicle, including the expiry date.

Vehicle owners have welcomed the new move as they are notified about the renewal a month before the expiry date through an SMS. They agreed that the services of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department are successful.
