The Arab states are understanding of Lebanon and they seek to avoid the country's implication in any conflict, Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Abul Gheit, told the National News Agency upon his arrival at Beirut airport on Monday morning.

Abul Gheit hailed the word delivered by Lebanon's permanent representative to the Arab League, Antoine Azzam, describing the diplomat as "dignified."

However, the AL Chief gave no details about the group's meeting in Cairo yesterday.

Abul Gheit and an accompanying delegation of the Arab League have arrived to Lebanon this morning for talks with President Michel Aoun and other senior officials.

Abul Gheit will also partake in an ESCWA conference
