Prosecutor General Counselor Nabil Sadeq decided on Tuesday to hold Alexandria Deputy Governor Soaad el Kholy, and four others, for four days pending investigations over bribery charges.
The Supreme State Security Prosecution ordered referring them to the Misdemeanor Court to look into remaining them in custody pending investigations into the case.
Kholy is facing accusations of accepting EGP one million in bribe from businessmen in return from protecting their illegal properties from demolition.
She was arrested on Sunday on several corruption charges, including bribery and squandering public funds.
