President of the republic, Michel Aoun, met, at Baabda palace on Wednesday, with the judges of the Financial Prosecution, chaired by Prosecutor Ali Ibrahim.

 

During the meeting, Aoun called his guests not to bow to pressures and interferences.

 

"Let justice and conscience be the bases of your verdicts," he said.

 

"Nobody is above the authority of the judiciary (...) it is unacceptable to tamper with it and revolt against its decisions, because it is upon everybody to protect and immunize the judiciary, especially that it issues verdicts in the name of the Lebanese people," he added.

 

"The ceiling of the press freedoms is the truth," he underlined, stressing that the presidency did and will not interfere in any pending affair, especially that related to journalists, among whom Marcel Ghanem," he said.

 

Aoun had earlier welcomed Pierre Duquesne, the inter-ministerial delegate for the Mediterranean in charge of the preparations of the economic conference referred to commonly as Paris IV

 

Aoun also met today with MP Hadi Hbeish, former minister Shakib Qortbawi, and Lebanon Ambassador to Serbia Nada Aql
