The Arab forum for standardization and consumer protection kicked off here on Monday with the participation of Egypt.

The two-day forum, organized in cooperation with the Arab League, will discuss 22 working papers covering quality infrastructure and its impact on the development of the Arab economy, the Arab Strategy for Standardization and Quality, the role of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) in protecting consumers in addition to other relevant issues.

Sudan's First Vice President Bakri Hassan Salih, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League Kamal Hassan Ali, General Director of the Arab Industrial Organization Adel Saqr will address the conference.

Some 75 Arab and world experts in standardization and representatives of the civil society organizations are taking part in the forum.

The final communique of the forum will be issued on Tuesday.
