Arab League

Ways of consolidating joint Arab action at the economic level, bolstering unified standards and avoiding duplicate measures are the main topics of discussions at the 26th meeting of the coordination and follow-up organisations' committee of the Arab League's Economic and Social Council, which kicked off earlier Monday in Cairo.

There is a collective desire among all parties concerned to develop the workings of specialised Arab organisations, being a significant tool for ensuring productive joint Arab action and stamping out all obstacles impeding the workings of these entities, said Mohammed Khair Abdulqader, Director of Arab Organisations and Associations at the Arab League.

Delivering the meeting inaugural speech, Abdulqader noted that there is a lot of work on the ground and tremendous efforts being made to develop the workings of Arab League and its specialised organisations in order to prevent double standards among these organisations, promote self-financing and providing paid services.

Mohamed Saleh Shalwah, Advisor to the UAE Minister of Economy, represents the UAE to the meeting.
