Army contributes to development projects in Sinai

The Armed Forces have been working to improve living conditions in South and North Sinai through a set of development and service projects.

The projects were outlined in line with a comprehensive strategy to hone human powers and best use resources.

Development and reconstruction should greatly contribute to eliminating terrorism and extremism.

Those projects are meant to upgrade the infrastructure and create jobs for residents of the peninsula and adjacent Canal cities.

The Armed Forces Engineering Authority has been working with ministers and bodies concerned to implement the projects.

One such project is the establishment of 120 housing units in Arish to resettle families who had been evacuated from the buffer zone.

The Armed Forces Engineering Authority is also tasked with a project to establish the New Rafah city.

Eighteen wells have also been dug in Sheikh Zuwaid, Rafah, Nakhl and al Hasna areas.

Work is also underway to build two desalination plants in Arish and Sheikh Zuwaid estimated to produce 5,000 and 10,000 cubic meters daily.

Twelve schools have already been established in Arish, Nakhl, Baer el Abd and Hasna areas.

Three central hospitals are currently under construction in Baer el Abd, Rafah and Nakhl.

About 13,680 feddans have so far been reclaimed in Baer el Abd as part of the development projects

Utilities have also been extended to the new industrial zones in Baer el Abd and Central Sinai.
