The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, AMAF, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Dubai Camel Racing Club to enhance mutual cooperation and focus on raising awareness about the important role of endowment in social development.
Ahmad Bu Shihab, Director of AMAF’s Endowment Development Department signed the agreement at AMAF’s headquarters in Dubai with Abdulla Faraj Abdulla, Director, Marketing Partnerships & Events at Dubai Camel Racing Club.
As per the terms of the MoU, which covers economic, social, cultural and media aspects of the collaboration, the Dubai Camel Racing Club will dedicate a percentage of the revenue from its events to AMAF’s endowment mandates.
The agreement also grants the foundation the right to endorse the endowment concept and distribute donation boxes at all heritage festivals and other events organised by the club, with selected events also offering complimentary entry to AMAF.
In addition, employees of the Dubai Camel Racing Club have the option of donating to the foundation via monthly deductions from their salaries to support endowment projects of their choice.
Emphasising the significance of the MoU, Ahmad Bu Shihab said, "Our cooperation with the Dubai Camel Racing Club sets an example in promoting the culture of endowment, and instilling Islamic and humanitarian values in the UAE society. We hope that other public and private entities will follow suit. We also aim to motivate organisers of cultural, sports and heritage events to contribute a portion of their revenues to endowment mandates."
He added, "The MoU reinforces the perfect alignment between the policies of government entities in the UAE and the vision of our wise leadership to make charity work an integral part of the strategies of all public and private institutions in the country."
