Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Gebran Bassil, welcomed on Tuesday Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Abbas Al-Amiri. Talks between the pair touched on the means to boost bilateral relations, as well as developments at the regional level.


Both men also broached the situation of the Lebanese community in Kurdistan - Iraq, and the need to facilitate their travel to Baghdad and to help with their return to Iraqi territory.


The ambassador pointed to the possibility of having Lebanese travel from Erbil to Baghdad without facing difficulties to leave Iraq and granting Lebanese nationals visas to enter Iraq within 24 hours from the date of submission.


For his part, Minister Bassil raised the issue of exporting Lebanese products to Iraq, especially Lebanese apples, and the means to facilitate this process.


The Iraqi ambassador welcomed the import of Lebanese apples and other Lebanese products provided that the Lebanese sides works on securing the road linking Lebanon to Iraq.


The Foreign Minister stressed "Lebanon's adherence to the territorial integrity of Iraq, and its opposition to all forms of division and unilateral measures taken in this context."


Hungarian Ambassador, Gisa Mehali, also had an audience with Bassil. Discussions featured high on bilateral relations and cooperation between both countries
