Minister of the Interior and Municipalities, Nohad Machnouk, deemed that the meeting between Foreign Affairs Minister Gibran Bassil and his Syrian counterpart, Walid Moallem, is tantamount to a political attack on the government presidency, describing it as a "violation of the political settlement and ministerial statement."
"We will not accept it [Bassil-Moallem meeting] under any circumstances and we will confront it by all means," Machnouk said during a meeting with Beiruti families on Sunday.
"The political settlement that we set out was aimed at preserving the country's security, political and economic stability," Machnouk went on, underscoring that the Future Movement will not sign a waiver of any of the constants of the Constitution and Taef Agreement.
Commenting on the upcoming parliamentary elections, Machnouk stressed that "legislative elections will be held on time." He disclosed that voters will cast their votes through pre-registration of their place of residence, not by a biometric card
