Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, welcomed at his Ein Teeneh residence on Monday a delegation representing Hamas Movement headed by Moussa Abu Marzouk.

Talks featured high on the heatedly debated international position against U.S. President Donald Trump's recognition of al-Quds as the capital of Palestine.

"Al-Quds is the capital of Christians and the Arab world. It will never be the capital of Israel that we do not recognize to start with," Marzouk said in the wake of the meeting, confirming his country's support for Lebanon's security and stability.

"Berri is committed to inter-Palestinian unity and we have invited him to support reconciliation in the face of regional developments," Marzouk added.

Separately, Berri met with the deputy head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Senate, Paolo Corsini, accompanied by Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Massimo Marotti.
