Customs authorities at Borg el Arab Airport on Monday foiled an attempt to smuggle amounts of ancient banknotes.

Customs officials at the airport suspected a passenger who was traveling to Athens. 

The officials searched the passenger to find banknotes of Egyptian pound dating back to the royal family in his possession.

All legal measures were taken against the passenger
