Brand Dubai unveils mural on Hatta Dam commemorating

Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in partnership with Dubai Municipality, has created one of the largest murals in the world on the Hatta Dam, as part of the second phase of the Dubai Street Museum project.

The mural portrays the founding fathers of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

The creation of the mural supports the objectives of the AED1.3 billion Hatta Comprehensive Development Plan announced last year by the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to transform Hatta into a world-class tourist destination. A number of Dubai government entities are working on implementing the plan, which aims at enhancing the region’s tourism, culture, sports, education and hospitality sectors.

Maitha Buhumaid, Director of the Brand Dubai, said that the selection of Hatta as the location for art installations to be created under the Dubai Street Museum project is part of the Government of Dubai Media Office’s contribution to achieving the objectives of the Hatta Comprehensive Development Plan to enhance Hatta’s touristic and cultural attractions.

Omar Saeed Al Mutaiwe'e, Head of Hatta Centre at Dubai Municipality, said that the unveiling of the mural coincides with the UAE’s 46th National Day, adding that the people of the UAE will always remember the nation’s founding fathers.

The mural was painted by German artist Andreas Von Chrzanowski, also known as Case. The mural took the artist two weeks to complete.

The Dubai Street Museum project is inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s vision to transform Dubai into an open-air museum, and promote aesthetic excellence and innovation. The first phase of the project included the completion of 16 murals on themes drawn from the UAE’s history and rich heritage.
