Tunsi Market – where a fire broke out earlier Saturday - lacks the basics of safety and security, therefore, it will be moved to a civilized and safe marketplace, the Cairo governor said.
In statements to MENA on Saturday, Atef Abdel Hamid said the cause of the fire is still unknown, noting that the governorate has a plan for developing its markets and protecting them from negligence and fire.
Governorate Secretary General Mohamed Sheikh said vendors of Tunsi market refused to move to the 15th of May market as their current location is central to several vital squares, like Sayyeda Eisha and Basatin Squares.
The requests of the vendors would be taken into consideration while selecting another location for Tunsi market, he said.
