Cairo police have launched a campaign to control prices and counter all forms of commercial fraud.

The campaign is meant to face attempts to increase prices, particularly of basic and strategic commodities, and to detect retailers who stockpile those vital goods to resell them for pretty high prices.

About 16 tons of rice, 14 tons of flour, 10 tons of sugar, seven tons of macaroni, five tons of vegetable oil and one ton of inedible meat have been seized in the campaign.

All legal measures have been taken and the prosecution has been informed to start a probe.
