The number of Egyptian children less than 18 years of age is estimated at 33.3 million, representing 36.6% of the total population in mid-2016, according to a statement released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Around 17.2 million children are males, representing 51.7%, while about 16.1 million are females with a percentage of 48.3, the statement said.
The higher number of children are between five and nine years of age, representing 28.7%, while the least number was less than one year at 6%.
