The Comoros look forward to the return of Morocco to the African Union (AU), said Tuesday in Rabat, Comorian minister of State, Justice, Islamic Affairs, Public Administrations and Human Rights, Fahmi Said Ibrahim.
“We look forward to the return of Morocco to the African Union, so that this country regains its natural place within its pan-African institutional family,” he told a press briefing after a meeting with Foreign minister, Salaheddine Mezouar.
Morocco has a “major” role to play in Africa as part of cooperation with brotherly African countries, the Comorian official noted, reiterating the “firm and unwavering” support of his country for the “just” national cause of the Moroccan Sahara and the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
He also expressed the willingness of the Comoros to further consolidate fraternal relations with Morocco, noting that his visit to the kingdom is meant to support and recall his country’s position vis-à-vis the Moroccan diplomacy and politics, initiated under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
