Ramallah - MENA
Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said that when the national consensus government assumes responsibility in Gaza Strip, it will carry out its full duties and responsibilities that go in line with the law.
In a statement on Tuesday at the beginning of the cabinet meeting, Hamdallah said that in order to achieve such goals, the government decided to form ministerial committees to be responsible for handing over crossings, security and governmental bodies that were run by Hamas committee.
As well, ministerial committees will take over civil, administrative and legal issues to recover effects of the division and to solve obstacles resulted from such division, Hamdallah noted.
Hamas agreement to dissolve the administrative committee in Gaza Strip to enable the government to take over full responsibilities in the southern governorates as demanded by President Mahmoud Abbas to proceed with reconciliation efforts gave hope to end the division forever, Hamdallah stated.
The Palestinian government will head for Gaza on Monday upon directives from president Abbas to take office, he said.
He added that the consensus government is the only government of the state of Palestine that is fully responsible for Gaza Strip and will continue to take steps aiming at achieving the Palestinian peoples’ hope for unity, freedom and independent Palestine with Al Quds as its capital.
Palestinian people had been struggled for ending such devastating division that took place 10 years ago because they knew that victory can never be achieved without unity, he further said.
He called on all Palestinians to support reconciliation efforts aiming to end the division and to enable the government to carry out its duties.
