The Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development, DSCD, has expressed its delight in dedicating some of their charitable efforts during the Holy Month of Ramadan with the emirate’s older generation at an "Iftar with the Elderly" they organised recently.
Reflecting the government's approach in instilling happiness among its citizens, events like this demonstrate commitment to promoting active engagement of the elderly in the community, attributes akin to the spirit of Ramadan.
Part of the numerous charitable events and activities DSCD has been rolling out throughout the Holy Month, the purpose of the Iftar gathering was to create a vibrant atmosphere for interaction and cultural exchange between the present and older generations of Sharjah.
Residents reminisced about how Ramadan was observed in the past, throwing light on cultural shifts that have occurred in society since. DSCD members enjoyed an insight into their past, and in turn engaged the elderly in several interesting games on topics of folklore, art and music.
The evening concluded on a high note with the distribution of gifts and prizes.
The Department of Statistics and Community Development provides censuses, surveys and studies especially for the elderly, as well as other community groups who receive generous care from H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
