Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, received Akima Umezawa, Consul-General of Japan in Dubai. Umezawa was accompanied by Jumpei Yamaguchi, Vice Consul, Economic Section.
Al Tayer welcomed the new Consul-General of Japan and wished him success in his upcoming diplomatic mission, stressing DEWA’s keenness to consolidate cooperation and joint work with all diplomatic and Consular missions in the UAE. He highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation frameworks, and building fruitful partnerships with Japanese companies in fields related to various energy sectors.
Al Tayer also shared DEWA's energy diversification projects, initiatives, and programmes, especially renewable and clean projects with the Japanese delegates. He focused on solar projects, including the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 7 percent of Dubai's energy from clean sources by 2020, 25 percent by 2030 and 75 percent by 2050.
Umezawa commended DEWA’s efforts, and the facilities it offers to Japanese companies in Dubai. He conveyed his interest in participating in DEWA’s projects, and having fruitful cooperation with DEWA to achieve sustainable development in Dubai.
