Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, DHA, today inaugurated the 7th Arab Neonatal Care Conference, in Dubai.

The three-day conference aims to gather neo-natologists, paediatricians, researchers, nurses and other health-care professionals to exchange international expertise and recent updates with regional practices.

During his opening speech, Mr. Al Qutami emphasised the importance of this medical specialty, the contribution of caregivers in the field of perinatal and neonatal medicine and the role of universities, research centres, health institutions, hospitals and international organisations and bodies that aim to provide a better life for both child and mother.

According to the WHO, three million babies die within the first month after birth. In addition, the organisation highlights the need to provide safe and efficient care for the mother during birth and the baby especially in the first month, during which the majority of deaths occur because of prematurity, birth asphyxia and infections.

The conference will see enriched content lectures as well as advanced neonatal workshops with successful technologies and solutions presented over the course of three days.
