The Judicial Police Brigade

The Judicial Police Brigade in the Nador Prefecture of Police has disbanded an international drug trafficking gang, in possession 12,189 kg of hashish.

Following information provided to Nador Judicial Police Brigade by the Directorate General for National Surveillance (DGSN), police forces arrested six alleged members of the gang, aged between 20 and 57.

The arrest resulted in the seizure of 19 vehicles of various types, including three freight cars at the end of which a quantity of drugs and a monetary sum of MAD 3,878,950 were found.

The inspections also resulted in the seizure of a zodiac boats used in international drug trafficking, electronic maritime navigation equipment, high-speed boat engines, a workshop dedicated to their maintenance and assembly, and a shotgun and 56 cartridges, indicated the DGSN in a commniqué.

The arrest came following investigation conducted by the judicial police in three houses in the rural municipality of Ammejjaou in the province of Driouch, used to store drugs.

The defendants were placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.

Investigations are still continuing to determine the local and international divisions of the drug trafficking network and allow for the arrest the other people involved
