The Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah, DSCD, has contributed to over 2,000 Iftar meals through a unique social media initiative as part of its ‘Iftar for Them’ charity campaign.
The comprehensive plan aims to encourage all members of society, especially social media enthusiasts and influencers, to appreciate the value of giving, generosity and compassion using the most innovative methods.
The Iftar donations are based on the number of ‘likes’ for the official campaign photo on DSCD’s Instagram account, making the most of the site’s advanced technology and its easy access, helping to attract a wide ranging audience.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the DSCD, said, "In order to maximise our technology and social media, the DSCD has launched a series of charity campaigns which reach out to an audience who use social media as a part of their everyday lives. This is an excellent way for us to engage with them and illustrate the true benefits of selflessness and charity."
DSCD launched the ‘Iftar with the Elderly’ campaign with the aim of promoting humanitarian values and boosting the joy of giving among members of the community, and also the ‘Let’s Make Them Happy’ initiative to enable its employees help one another perform Umrah.
