The Dubai Charity Association, DCA, has started to distribute food baskets to 15,000 disadvantage families at a cost of AED1.7 million, from its headquarters in Muhaisnah area in Dubai.
The Ramadan food basket includes necessary food that the families need during the Holy Month of Ramadan, as part of the association's projects for disadvantage families, orphans, and individuals, both within the state and in other countries around the world.
Ahmed Mesmar, Secretary-General of DCA, said that the campaign, which costs an overall total of AED60 million, is the main charity project of the association during Ramadan .
He added that the food basket initiative is one of the most important programmes for the DCA, which it is keen to implement to provide families with food, in cooperation with a group of volunteers who help the association in the project's implementation and the delivery of baskets. He also pointed out that besides food baskets and breaking of fast projects, DCA distributes Zakat al-Fitr and Eid clothing.
Mr. Mesmar explained that DCA implements projects locally and abroad in more than 30 countries, including the construction of mosques, schools, clinics and digging of wells.
