Dubai Customs has received a delegation from Dubai Statistics Centre, in a visit to learn about innovative practices and procedures within Dubai Customs.
Hussam Juma, Director of the Business Innovation Department at Dubai Customs, received the delegation and briefed them on the best innovation practices applied in Dubai Customs which serve its vision of becoming the world leading customs administration supporting legitimate trade. The visit helped enhance cooperation between Dubai Customs and Dubai Statistics Centre and exchange of expertise and knowledge between the two government departments.
He discussed the Service Innovation Department's roles, including building of service innovation, smart transfer strategies, and automation of services and operations, amongst others. These innovations saved more than AED214 million in three years, and more importantly, raised the department’s profile as a world leading customs administration.
"Dubai Customs has a work environment that encourages innovation and new ideas. Our innovations have been rewarded. We recently received a Certified Innovative Organisation Certificate from the Global Innovation Institute. We are proud to be the first government department to have received this certificate. In general, we have received 62 international, regional and local awards in innovation between 2010 and 2016," Juma added.
