Dubai Health Authority ready to respond to any emergencies during New Year gala

The Dubai Health Authority, DHA, is ready to respond to any emergencies any time during the New Year's eve gala, to be held tomorrow, Saturday, at the Burj Khalifa tower and surrounding areas, the government agency announced on Friday.

More than two million people are expected to descend on the area to participate in the celebrations at the world's tallest man-made structure, it said.

A state-of-the art mobile hospital, a medical clinic inside Dubai Mall, mobile clinics stationed in the areas surrounding the site as well as a 56-strong team of medical first-responders, physicians, nurses and other staff, all are on standby ready for intervention to address any medical emergency and offer first aid services, the DHA said.

Dubai has established its position in the global tourism landscape as an iconic destination for New Year celebrations which are followed live by millions of people across the world, thanks to the directives of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the DHA.

Fruitful co-operation is underway between the DHA and all relevant departments working to shoulder their part of the responsibility during the event, he added.

Deployment of emergency medical services on all roads leading to the site of the celebration around Burj Khalifa is part of the plan developed by the DHA for the New Year event, Al Qatami noted.
