Teachers across Dubai’s schools today marked World Teachers’ Day and were honoured for their contribution to high-quality education in the emirate.
An event, held at Knowledge and Human Development Authority, KHDA, brought together teachers who had previously participated in 'Teachers of Dubai', 'What Works', and 'Teach Together'. World Teachers' Day, also known as International Teachers Day, is celebrated annually on 5th October.
Each teacher was presented with the first 'Teachers of Dubai' book, featuring the stories of 50 teachers previously profiled on the #TeachersOfDubai social media pages.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Director-General of the KHDA, said, "World Teachers’ Day is a great opportunity for us to say thank you to teachers in Dubai for inspiring their students, for giving to their communities, and for simply being who they are. This book has been made possible by the hard work and determination of our teachers who believe in giving their best always. It shines a light on the wonderful work done by teachers. When we feel appreciated and have a strong sense of wellbeing, we make a strong, positive impact on the community around us."
The event included the KHDA Mums, a group of five parents with children at Dubai schools who interview teachers for Teachers of Dubai. Teachers also took part in a positive education session hosted by the Dubai chapter of the International Positive Education Network.
