The Commission for Academic Accreditation has approved the First Ph.D. programme to be offered at Ajman University, AU. The programme at the College of Law will offers Doctorate of Philosophy in Law, commencing in the second semester of the current academic year, 2017-2018.
This was announced during a press conference held on AU campus, headed by Dr. Karim Seghir, AU Chancellor.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Seghir said, "This is a defining moment in our distinguished university’s history and future. For nearly 30 years, AU has been graduating students that are contributing positively to the community and economies around the world. The 33000 AU alumni each represent the high calibre of our educational programmes that is delivered by our diverse faculty that bring to AU their global expertise and experience; all this on a local platform on a fully equipped campus that is located in the heart of UAE. AU strives to be a vanguard of impactful research and knowledge dissemination and therefore, the successful addition of a Ph.D. in Law to our portfolio of programmes is a prime example of turning AU strategic planning into strategic action.
Dr. Lateefah Mohammed, Dean of the College of Law, confirmed that the doctoral programme aims to advance students' knowledge and skills of the legal disciplines and enhance their career.
She added that the doctoral programme will contribute to the development of the UAE community and other communities of the Gulf Cooperation Council through the creation of a qualified cadre that meets the market needs and contributes to positive developments in safeguarding citizens.
