Arab League Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Ahmed bin Helli on Wednesday said that the food gap in Arab and African countries will widen while the cost of import will increase.
In his speech at the conference of Arab and African ministers of agriculture on agricultural development and food security here, he added that natural and water resources in the Arab and African countries are massive.
He noted that the food gap became one of the determiners of Arab and African national security.
The event was attended by Sudanese First Vice President Bakry Hassan Saleh and senior officials from the African Union Commission, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and delegations from 65 countries.
