GCC support to Palestinian Cause reaffirmed

The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organisations has reaffirmed the firm position of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states in support of the Palestinian Cause.
Speaking on behalf of the GCC in the general debate at the 34th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on the systematic violations of the Palestinian people's rights by Israel, Yusuf Abdulkarim Bucheeri reiterated that a just, durable and comprehensive peace will not be achieved without the complete Israeli withdrawal from the entire Arab territories occupied since 1967 and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State with Eastern Quds as its capital, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and the related international resolutions.
Bucheeri said that the illegal settlements on the Arab occupied territories continued to constitute a threat to the comprehensive lasting peace in the region and stressed the Arab status of all Arab occupied territories including the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
All conventions and laws recognize the Golan Heights as an Arab territory and de-legitimize the Israeli occupation, he said, welcoming the United Nation Security Council Resolution on its unchangeable status.
He underlined the support of the accession of Palestine as a full member state to all regional and international fora and welcomed the results of the vote of the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris on October 18, 2016, and the historic decision of the non-existence of a Jewish religious connection to Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Buraq Wall, considering them pure Islamic heritage.
Bucheeri renewed the call to the international community to end the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories including the occupied Syrian Golan and its systematic violation of the rights of their people and the Lebanese territories under the Israeli occupation.
